Tired of the old same 1/3lb beef patty slapped together with mayo, slice of tomato and lettuce on a bun? Here’s our list of biggest, baddest and meanest burgers around Chicago. Fries are welcome but considering the amount of calories for each burger, you certainly do not want to overdose.
Our lists starts with Kuma’s Corner and it’s rock n’roll inspired atmosphere as well as burgers. In addition to crazy toppings and types of burgers one can select from, the biggest and baddest one is the Slayer. This monster sports 10oz burger patty, served on a bed of fries, chili, cherry peppers, caramelized onion, andouille sausage, Monterey jack cheese and green onion. Awesome!
Located off the Blue line Belmont stop plus a decent walk or Uber/bus.
Location: 2900 West Belmont Avenue
If you are truly up for a challenge, why not hop on over to Rocks in Lakeview. Here you can really prove your manliness, or the lack thereof. Seriously, some people never make it out alive from here.
For newbs we have staple fare with various burgers, sides and toppings; pretty usual stuff.
What impressed us is their burger challenge: eat this blood clotting trans fat rich 4500 calorie
3lbs monster with 1lb of fries in under 30 minutes to win this challenge. Before going in, make sure you have ample health insurance coverage or do not tell your doctor you visited this place.
Location: 4138 North Lincoln Ave
Wiener and Still Champion
While this restaurant does not offer anything unique or trendy when it comes to atmosphere, they make it up in huge burgers. My favorite is their 666 burger, available only on Friday 13ths. Stop in and indulge in this monster (double cheeseburger, 6 slices of bacon, 6 slices of cheese and 6 cheese sticks – yes, they add those too)! Located in Evanston, just off Dempster Purple line stop.
Location: 802 Dempster St.
