n a city filled with great cocktail spots and seasoned mixologists, it can be hard to hit every place on your bucket list of bars in a single outing.

Now, the Chicago Reader is offering the chance to sample drinks from several of the city’s top cocktail creators all in one night — at the same place — with its annual Fall Cocktail Challenge.

The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 15 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Salvage One in West Town at 1840 W. Hubbard St., Chicago.

Inspired by the Chicago Reader’s popular drink-making series, the challenge invites a dozen mixologists from cocktail bars from across the city to take part in a challenge.  The mixologists whip up some creative seasonal cocktails under this year’s theme “Nostalgia.” Locals are asked to stand up to the challenge by buying a ticket and raising a glass.

From there, attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite cocktail, and a group of judges will be on hand to pick their favorite. As a result, more than one mixologist will walk away a winner with prize money from sponsor Cutty Sark

Guests receive two complimentary drinks of their choice from Schlafly Beer or City Winery. The night’s bites come from Fig Catering, which is offering treats such as vegetable spring rolls with chile garlic sauce, mini burgers with roasted garlic aioli, spinach-queso empanadas and more.

Ready to take part in the challenge? Tickets are still available here for $50 per person.

The first 150 people who purchased tickets will receive an early-bird price of $40. These ticket-holders are also invited to attend a pre-reception from 6 to 7 p.m. in Salvage One’s courtyard. Guests will receive a complimentary drink from Cutty Sark, and can snack on appetizers during the pre-reception.
