It’s a moment fans across the Windy City and beyond have dreamed about for decades, and now, baseball’s oldest curse has been broken with the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series in a nail-biting game 7 in Cleveland versus the Indians. For the first time in 108 years, the Cubs are World Series champions.
The historic victory was certainly not lost on fans. The minutes – and days – that followed have been filled with celebration, not only at Wrigley Field, but across the city. Fans rejoiced, an estimated 5 million attended a victory parade and the curious swarmed to Wrigley Field for days.
