Looking for a sweet way to spend the weekend?

With warm temperatures predicted for the next few days, locals and visitors alike can celebrate the season and indulge their sweet tooth Saturday and Sunday at the Chicago Artisan Chocolate Festival & Charity Wine Tasting.

The event – which is being held at the Stephen M. Bailey Auditorium at 1340 Washington Blvd. — will feature 50-plus exhibits, demos and tastings. It will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 17.

There will be speakers, artisanal foods, wine and of course, plenty of chocolate of all kinds.

The list of exhibitors includes chocolate-makers from both near and far.

Locally, look for displays from Chicago chocolatiers such as Mayana Chocolate, Amy’s Candy Bar, The Raw Chocolatier, Mon Ame Chocolat, Calihan Catering, Katherine Anne Confections and GrownUp Kid Stuff.

As a bonus, any guilt about chowing down on chocolate can be eased by the fact that the festival benefits a good cause – Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

In fact, $10 from each ticket will be donated to the cancer foundation. Tickets can be purchased online in advice for $35, or there’s a special two-ticket option for $62. Tickets bought at the door are $55. A link to tickets can be found here.

Already have plans this weekend? Simply create your own chocolate tour the next time you’re in the city. Chicago is chock-full of choices when it comes to chocolate shops, and they’re found all over – from the busy streets of the Mag Mile to tucked-away neighborhoods.

Here’s just a few from a recent roundup from Chicagoist:

The Fudge Pot
While this Old Town spot is known for its chocolate covered berries and carame-coated apples, don’t forget to try their truffles and chocolates.
