The Greater Chicago Chapter carries out this mission every day by responding to local disasters, providing assistance to individuals and families affected by emergencies, and helping people develop the skills and knowledge they need to be prepared. Beyond disaster response, the Greater Chicago Chapter provides Community Disaster Education, First Aid/CPR, water safety and other lifesaving health and safety training to thousands of people throughout the region. The Red Cross also supports blood collection efforts and provides services to members of the military, veterans and their families. Our Mission The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. In Greater Chicago, our volunteers, donors and community partners make it possible to be there for people when they need help most, responding to disasters, providing critical services and helping communities prepare for emergencies before they happen.
