United Way of Metro Chicago takes a holistic approach to driving meaningful, measurable change — meeting an individual’s immediate basic needs, such as food, health care, and housing, while investing in long-term, sustainable neighborhood transformation. Our goal is simple and ambitious: a Chicago region where everyone has access to opportunity and the ability to thrive.

Welcome to chicago.com

We built this place for the Chicago region we believe in: one where people know their neighbors, communities have healthy conversations, and public spaces truly serve the public.

Too often, digital spaces are built by for-profit tech companies that place their business models ahead of the community. As nonprofit public media, we’re putting the community first. We want to build a platform for everyone in the Chicago area and we want to build it with you.

We’re a work in progress, starting small and building as we go. What you see today will look different a year from now. So take a look around. Make a guide. Discover a new local spot. Connect with your neighbors. And tell us how to make this space more useful to you and to our city.
